I've had a very busy week, and will give a full update on that tomorrow. For now, I just wanted to offer a few words in memoriam of the attacks on our country seven years ago. At the memorial service today, the Dean of Students said something that particularly struck a chord with me. He said that in the immediate weeks following the attacks, America regained its human decency for one brief moment. It didn't matter what party you were or any of your beliefs; you were a fellow American, and we all stood together and helped support each other. He left us with the challenge to bring that decency back. Looking at the dismal attendance around me, I realized that this challenge is tougher than it should be. People are already beginning to forget what happened, and are resuming the apathy they had before. We need to fight to maintain that decency that briefly showed its face; it's the only way our country can stay strong for the future. As we pray for the souls of the victims, for their families, and for our country, let us never forget our gift of freedom. It's why they tried to tear us apart, and why we should stand together to prevent that horrible event from ever repeating itself. God Bless America.
